Last year I grew about 20 bombastic expensive amaryllis , and I ca n’t say that I paid as much attention to them growing in their Lucius DuBignon Clay , Guy Wolff pot as I have watched this little cat . Maybe because there is only one , and it is the first calendar week of December . For whatever reason , it ’s reminding me of the very first amaryllis I grew back in the former 1970 ’s . I was so excited and proud when it bloomed . That wo n’t happen here , but the process of watching it mysteriously grow has been fun again .

Sure , it will die once it blooms , but who worry ? I rarely save my amaryllis anyway . We all know that it ’s not a very horticulturally sound method acting ( I intend , in a purist 1960’s - force - a - genus Colchicum - on - the - window - sill sort of way , ( or even in a 2013 - hotglue - a - airplant - anywhere - sort of fashion for that matter ) . Better than a Chia Pet but not as cool as Magic Rocks and not even close to aFuzzy Wuzzy .
