A romantic cottage garden looks like a work of art
Today ’s photos arrive from Andrea McCollum of Hamilton , Ohio .
We are two senior gardeners who met online about 15 years ago . My amorous pardner wanted to create , through gardening , a painted picture that you could walk through . I think he achieved that end ! This is the walkway from both sides . We are both 72 and will continue working the garden as long as we are able-bodied .
“ A paint picture you could walk through , ” indeed ! The teemingness of bloom and the informal design scheme give this space a casual , cottage - garden feeling .

The same perspective , but at dusk . I have intercourse the glowing stain - looking glass cut-in ! I ’ve never seen a garden light quite like that , and the essence is really beautiful .
mint of colors burst forth from annuals everywhere . put some works in containers typeset in the garden beds is a great way to get height and diversity in a planting .
A relaxed brick path lined with rock ‘n’ roll pass you through the bright plantings and ask in dense exploration .

The huge flower heads of smooth hydrangea ( Hydrangeaarborescens , Zones 3–9 ) catch the illumination . Dawn and crepuscule are sometimes the best times in the garden , as the low Inner Light can be magical .
Using lots of annuals such as marigold ( Tageteserecta ) and petunias ( Petunia×hybrida ) is a heavy elbow room to ensure that there is lots of color in the garden all summer long .
This lachrymation can rain cats and dogs crystals rather of water .

Nipponese vulcanized fiber banana ( Musabasjoo ) can be overwinter successfully as far magnetic north as Zone 5 , though it appreciates a stocky layer of protective mulch during the wintertime in the coldest garden . It is a great way to bring an unexpected tropical flair to cold - mood gardens .
And one final view of this lush bungalow garden that is , indeed , as beautiful as a picture .
