Starting with One Cucumber

Birchfield says that the gardening aspect of her hobby farm stock from a lone cucumber .

“ I grew one cucumber , but my husband still believed that I could become a nurseryman and build up me a large , gated , raise bed garden , ” she explains . “ We now have band of things turn this year : tomato plant , eggplant , beans , cucumbers , zucchini , squelch , melons , carrots , pumpkin vine and corn . ”

Modeling Human Behavior on Bees

“ I am absolutely fascinate by the bee and pick up so much by watching them and read everything I can , ” says Birchfield , talking about the determination to add bees to her hobby farm .

“ I think the most riveting matter that I ’ve noticed about their behavior is just how harmoniously they make as one hive , each doing what they are make to do and completely focus on their common goal , ” she adds .
