Taking in the small beauties
Today Kris Campbell - Defoe from New Paltz , New York ( in the Hudson Valley region ) is sharing some garden beauties . I love these photos because they concentre in on small-scale inside information , finding the ravisher in little things I often overlook . They make me desire to walk around my garden and take a closer expression at each of my plants !
A delicate spray of blue from brunnera ( Brunneramacrophylla , Zones 3–8 ) . Many people growbrunneraprimarily for the prominent , centre - shaped leaves that are often marked withsilverpatterns , but the delicateblue flowersare pretty great as well . Each individual blossom is very small , but they can be produced in enormous clouds when the industrial plant are happy .
Ahosta(Hostahybrid , Zones 3–8 ) folio in the rainwater . The waxy foliage airfoil that gives some Funka ablueishcolor is also water repellent , so that rain gets transformed into these beautiful little jewels clump on the folio .

Blue flowers of a pulmonaria ( Pulmonariahybrid , Zones 5–8 ) . It is easy to see that this and brunnera are in the same crime syndicate . Like brunnera , pulmonaria can have silver - patterned foliation and lots of small blueness ( or sometimes pinkish or purple , depend on the miscellany ) efflorescence ahead of time in thespring .
An cosmetic onion plant ( Allium , Zones 3–8 ) flower head is just begin to push overt , with the mass of tiny purple flush ready to push open and form a round head of bloom . So beautiful — andornamental onionshave an oniony preference to their leaves and bulbs , which means deer and most other pests allow them alone .
A different kind of mantrap is bring forth by some very happypotatoplants growing out , full of the promise of a freehanded harvest later in the class .

And finally , a wonderful photo of the sky , with a beautiful grain of clouds over the hills of the Hudson Valley area .
