generation
Over the last calendar month or two I ’ve made several posts key the outgrowth of taking cuttings of plants in my garden . Here is the update on how those cuttings are doing . It ’s a sundry travelling bag … .
Dahlia pinnata . In general , thesehave been a great achiever . I lost a few along the way , but the vast legal age rooted well , transplant happily too , and are now growing on to a sound size . I ’ll be planting them out before long . If I can find room for them . Yay !

Cotinus ‘ state of grace ’ – I ’ve had two scene at this . The first was a deadloss , and I have to say thesecondisn’t looking too hopeful , most the stem are looking clearly drooping , and I ’ve removed 2 or 3 that had already turned up their toes . This is a little dishearten . I ’m going to have one last do at this , I require to judge something else . I might also taste to circularize this shrub by layering .
Rose ‘ Danse de feu ’ . I direct some softwoodcuttingsof this get up to increase stocks , I have a few place in the garden that would benefit from its fecund and very beautiful unfolding . So far , assorted results . I have a few practicable stem go out from 10 or 15 . I do think I see the beginnings of roots come out through the bottom of the crapper , so finger crossed .
Pelargoniums . I did n’t write about these in a post , but they are quite felicitous . No obvious sign of ascendant through the bottom of the container . Taps substructure in restlessness . I have a couple of terrace pots standing by for these .

Dahlia Regiment.
Fuschia – theseseem chirpy enough , I think there even a duet of very small efflorescence . No root visible yet . although signs of wise top increment is encouraging .
Salvia ‘ Hot Lips ’ . I originally rent some hardwood film editing whichfailed , but did create some good fresh top growth , which I salvaged as two softwood cut . Until the other day , these were looking very sizable and green , with other sign of roots coming through the bottom of the potentiometer . My restlessness get the better of me and I sky-high pot them up , ignoring the piddling voice say ‘ you should hold off , you bang you should wait ’ . They had some good root , although quite fine . They both died within a day or two . I drink down them ! This is really vexing – I was looking forward to make those plants in my garden . I should have left them be for another calendar month or two . Hmmph . Might just buy one and be anathemise .
Clematis . I aim thesecuttingson fourteenth May . They have from time to time attend a little droopy , but a well watering has normally sorted this out . I ’ve lost one or two stem but in general they look happy . I could convince myself that I see root out of one or two of the mental faculty , but if I ’ve determine anything this twelvemonth it ’s to be ultra - patient about pot on rooted cutting off . advantageously to allow them be in their original container until highly well rooted when better able to withstand the indignity of being transplanted .

Flickering flame
Carnations – theselook perfectly happy so far . Early Clarence Shepard Day Jr. , I only took the cutting two weeks ago .
Weigela – very recentlytaken , still somewhat fresh looking for .
Euphorbia . I pinched a few stems from my mother ’s garden for cuttings . They seem to be doing alright so far .

Hanging on by a thread
In general it ’s a mixed bag this year for deal film editing , albeit a great improvement on late years . I do find it vastly thwarting that some do work well and others just give up , with no obvious dispute in approach . My quest for the perfect technique continues …
I ’ll be back with an update on these and any other cuttings I take .
