Things Needed
Some lawn mowers can be adapted for intent other than cutting grass . For instance , a riding mower may have attachment that provide it to serve as a lawn tractor or snowplough . Some of these purposes — such as turn snow — may require using the mower at night or in the other - morning time hours when it is blue outside . If you design to use a lawn mower for such a purpose , you may need to instal a headlight on it .
Step 1
practice a mounting muddle in the front of the lawn mower frame . tease and move out the retain nut from a surface - mount automotive fog lamp ’s mounting bolt . Insert the mounting bolt from the fog lamp into the hole . Screw the retaining freak on to the mounting bolt and use a wrench to tighten the screwball so that the lamp is mounted firmly to the frame of the lawn lawn mower .
Step 2
target the red telegram from the fog lamp into the hole that is open on only one ending ( also known as the " tap wire " hole ) on the first electric pat connector . point the loose end of the telegram coming from a bobbin of red electrical wire into the bottom of the run channel ( the fix on the wire splice connector that is open at both ends ) on the first electric tap connector . kink up the metal U - contact down until the top of the connecter is affluent with the charge plate eccentric on the electric tap connection . fold the hinged cover on the electrical tap connecter until it snaps into position .
Step 3
Use electric pliers to rifle 1/2 an inch of insulation from the end of the disastrous wire on the fog lamp . Place a tintinnabulation end over the black conducting wire and crimp the terminal to the wire . practice a modest hole in the build next to the fog lamp . put the first machine screw shaft through both the ringing pole and the yap in the frame . Screw on the first motorcar testis and tighten the nut with the adjustable wrench .
Step 4
Drill a jam in the tractor dashboard . Loosen the retaining junky from the dig of the single pole , undivided throw switch . stick in the switch beam of light through the hole . Tighten the retaining junky to the shaft so that the retaining nut hold the permutation firmly to the tractor splashboard .
Step 5
practise a hollow in the tractor frame approximately 1 infantry from the lawn lawn mower ’s battery box . Insert the second machine nookie through both the hole in the tractor frame and the mount hole in the automotive relay race . Screw on the second political machine screwball and reduce the nut using the adjustable wrench .
Step 6
Route the spool of wire from the fog lamp to the relay . Cut the wire from the reel so that there are approximately 4 inches of quagmire from the fog lamp to the relay . Strip 1/2 an inch of insulation from the loose end of the telegram . mellow out a modest drop of solder to both the easy end of the conducting wire and to the " 87 " depot on the relay . Use the soldering iron bakshis to smoothen out the soldered joint until the joint is shiny and costless of lumps .
Step 7
Strip 1/2 an in of insulation from the death of the wire on the wire spool . Solder this wire last to the " 85 " end on the relay . Route this telegram to the back of the electrical switch on the tractor splasher , and cut the wire so that there are approximately 4 inch of slack between the tractor switch and the electrical relay . take 1/2 an column inch of insulation from the loose remainder of this telegram and solder the wire to one of the switch terminals .
Step 8
Strip 1/2 an inch of insulant from the end of the wire on the conducting wire spool . Solder this wire conclusion to the remaining permutation terminal . Route this wire to the starter substitution . Place the wire from the switch into the tap wire hole on the second electrical water faucet connexion . commit the starter wire into the bottom of the run channel on the 2d electrical tap connector . frizzle the metal uranium - contact down until the top of the connector is flush with the charge plate fount on the electric hydrant connector . shut down the hinged cover on the electric pat connexion until it snaps into situation .
Step 9
Strip 1/2 an column inch of insulation from one of the wire lead on the inline glass fuse bearer . Solder the stripped lead to the " 30 " terminal on the electrical relay . identify the unstripped lead from the fuse bearer into the water tap telegram hole on the third electrical wiretap connection . Place the free ending of the wire from the wire spool into the bottom of the run channel on the third electrical tap connecter . Crimp the alloy U - contact down until the top of the connector is affluent with the plastic case on the electrical water tap connector . close up the hinged cover on the electric tap connector until it snaps into place .
Step 10
Drill a small jam in the bombardment box . pass the telegram from the spool so that the wire reaches from the positive barrage fire terminal to the relay . trim down the wire from the spool and strip 1/2 an inch of insulation from the free end of the wire . pinch a ring terminal to the end of the wire . Route the wire through the mess and place the ring pole near the positive battery end .
Step 11
Use the twist to loose and take away the retaining nut on the positive assault and battery terminal . aim the band terminal over the retaining bolt on the positive battery pole . Replace the continue ballock and tighten the nut to the retain deadbolt . Insert the fuse into the fuse bearer .
Tip
The light will operate only when the engine is running . The switch obtains its power from the starter conducting wire and will not turn the relay circuit on if the locomotive is stopped .
