Display your plants to their best advantage

Around this time of class , when the catalog are flow through the letterbox loggerheaded and fast , I ’ll often flick through and of necessity cease up looking through the pot , tools and other garden paraphernalia at the back . Something that always catches my oculus is the page dedicated to ‘ plant theatres ’ ; wooden or alloy complex body part that are either a stepped effect or something that resemble a small bookshelf .

In the past , these have also been known as Auricula theatres , direct at showing off your prized collection , but I ’m not using mine for Auriculas … For this project I ’ve used a simple electric scroll saw and powered screwdriver , but a handsaw and veritable screwdriver would do the job just as well with some human elbow grease !

Step 1 : I’ve used old off cut of woodwind instrument for this , but you could use pallet ( my favourite ) or any other forest you may find out . For this design you ’ll need the following length : 1x70 cm ( 27.5 in ) for the cap , 2 x 100 cm ( 3 ft ) for the side , 3 x 50 cm ( 20 in ) for your shelves ( and bottom ) and then 6 x 100 cm ( 3 ft ) for the back panel . To do this as inexpensively as possible , look at popular on-line social medium marketplaces for free wood .

How to Make your own plant theatre

footstep 2 : Lay out your shape using my pic as an illustration to make trusted your piece of music fit together as plan . You should have a rectangular shape with long side and the cap should be wider than the shelves .

whole tone 3 : Once you ’re happy that you ’ve got it laid out properly then you may repair it together using outside Sir Henry Wood screw or nails desirable for the open . One nail or shtup at each connecting point should be enough .

Step 4 : When your overall shape is there , you may add the back gore should you wish . These theatres can be fixed to a wall or fencing , in which shell the back is n’t always necessary , but as mine is freestanding I have add a back .

Step 5 : At this stage you could also paint the structure . One of my favourite colour for woodwork in the garden is call ‘ salvia Green ’ , which is colourful without being over the top – but why not go over the top ? ! Bold people of color work well too !

measure 6 : And the most fun part ? add your choice of plant . As I allege at the commencement , auriculas work particularly well in a theatre as it ’s an idealistic way of showing off their bright flowers , but the choice is yours . I ended up using mine for a selection of herb , empty terracotta pots and ornament and a couple of my seedlings too . You ’ve stimulate interminable option with how you’re able to use yours .
