KB Farms has a long history with rose and their President Robert Kitayama has likely grab his hired hand on his bonnie share of their thorns over the years . Robert was ask to partake a little bit about the rose , its story with KB Farms and its strong connection to the Valentine ’s Day holiday . check off out what he had to say below . RosesI was asked to write a few thoughts on pink wine for Valentine ’s Day . I unremarkably do n’t advocate roses for Valentine ’s daylight since they are a bit cliché , but you ca n’t abnegate roses are the queen of flowers . Once upon a time , they were my favored prime . As far as beauty , scent , and meaning they are hard to beat . I was so fond of them that my oldest daughter ’s middle name is Rose .
KB Farms and rosesMy sexual love of roses number from a sentence when KB Farms was the largest roseate grower in the US . We had about 5 million sq ft of glasshouse roses between 3 locations in California and Colorado . Every Valentine ’s twenty-four hours was a marathon 3 - week full stop of work 16 60 minutes days . We would cut and compact chiliad of bunches of rose , sometime - timers will recollect miscellanea such as Cara Mia and Kardinal , which both had the sharpest and worst thorns of any rose wine . Honestly , January - February is the worst time of year to grow roses , low sun , mold , botrytis , gamy heating , and labor costs , do n’t make growing roses for the faint of heart . If your vacation timing was off , with a too early or too late a crop , your whole year would be ruined .
Stopping productionI was the one who made the decision to root for out the last rose plant at KB Farms back in 2013 . It was n’t a hard decision ; our growing costs had risen above our average merchandising cost . The roses presently usable on the marketplace are with child and come in a much magnanimous array of colors and assortment than when we get them . blush wine are truly international , the roses you see this Valentine ’s Day number from the US , Colombia , Ecuador , Kenya , Ethiopia , Mexico , Holland , and many other state . I admire rise growers no matter where they are locate because I am aware of the workplace it takes to develop beautiful roses . But here is my recommendation for this vacation , combine your flowers .

Mix it upA dozen red rose from the grocery entrepot is good , but not very originative . If you want to “ up your secret plan ” , mix it up . To some pink wine add some oriental lilies , gerberas , snapdragons , mini Maria Callas , kale , stock or any of the prime we have here at KB Farms , you will get a much better reply . Oh , and my new favourite flower is the gardenia . Try giving that flower to a loved one , they will blank out roses …
While KB Farms no longer grows roses here in California we do keep a critical eye on the ones that we import for our client to ensure a great quality merchandise . We source the highest caliber roses from premiere farm in Ecuador . Ecuadorian roses are well known for being gamy quality , with large caput and stems , cut at just the right cut stagecoach for importation and distribution .
Many of the rose we sell are pre - book for the vacation we keep peck in stock for our local customers and in addition to being available to walk - in customers , we can return to local florist in water .
