In a Vase on Monday. Snowdrops.

I hypothecate I should have a vase of red rosiness to lionize Valentine ’s Day , but I ca n’t bring off those in February . But what I do have in abundance are Anemone quinquefolia . And as they are my passionateness , then a bouquet of these is much more to my taste to adorn the table for our Valentine ’s dinner tonight . I put them in my little flake Mdina glass vase which I believe occur from Malta . I used simpleGalanthus nivalisand the double formGalanthus nivalis‘Flore Pleno ’ as I have carpets of these . For a adorable honey aroma I put in a few stem ofGalanthus‘S. Arnott ’ and Galanthus‘Ginn ’s Imperatii ‘ as these are the ones which smell the strongest when brought into the house .

And as I beak so many I had enough to put into the lovely snowdrop mug my girl throw me for Christmas . So I have enough to enjoy in the keep way too .

I do have carpets of these beauties as I suppose they have been self - seeding for many old age . But I have nothing quite on the shell of the forest garden I visit yesterday . Over a period of ten years these have been carefully part and replanted every year and now it looks as if the ground is report in snow as far as the optic can see .

The wood anemone are glorious massed like that ! I can understand why you make love them so . The closest I can come to that kind of snow-covered display is provided by the fall flower petal of our ornamental pear Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree , the last of which were blown away by gusty winds that accompanied last week ’s wintertime heatwave . Both vessel you used to show off your Valentine ’s Day picks are unadulterated for their subjects but the mug is especially sweet .

Beautiful pickings Chloris and I can just imagine the scent . The display at the garden you visited bet magical . We have the same Anemone quinquefolia mug methinks 😀

PS I would much rather have local snowdrop in a celebratory vase at this time of twelvemonth than unseasonal red roses .
