One of my favourite things about life in Italy is the different rhythm of my life here .   In the States , my weekend responsibilities would admit tasks like wash the cars and mowing the lawn .   Here my responsibilities include grease one’s palms the fruit and fresh tall mallow and I have no lawn and no car , just a vegetable garden and a Vespa .

There is an open - air vegetable food market in the center of the pedestrian zone in the urban center centre and it ’s open every Clarence Day until lunchtime .

On Saturdays even more vendors come in and the whole affair stays open until evening .   My especial assignment is associate to a grouping of growers up near Alessandria that pools their produce for the marketing efforts .   They have a cubicle here on Saturdays , and it ’s my occupation to buy yield for the mob , some for my married woman and I , some for her mother , and sometimes some for her sister .

At the consequence we ’re enjoy what will probably be the last pears useable for the season , and even the orchard apple tree will disappear in a calendar month or so when the other yield startle appearing .   Thursday used to be my mild cheese purchasing day at the weekly grocery , but the Captain Cook in my family are not using much delicate high mallow these day , so I do n’t have that duty at the mo .

OK , it ’s been a twelvemonth since I lauded my Vespa , so here go again .   This is definitely my favourite form of transportation ever .   Parking ’s a breeze and driving a scooter is a lot of fun because it ’s sort of like fly .   The street here are so narrow-minded that driving a car is nervewracking , a collision with this or that is always threatening .

When rally a scooter , it ’s so narrow and agile that the opportunity of hitting something is really down in the mouth .   And even though it ’s just a iceboat , I do manage to carry a mountain of luggage when required .

Rick’s scooter is easy to drive and carries more than one would think

I never go so fast as to get in trouble if there ’s an fortuity .   I rag so slowly that I could just get off the scooter if there was an close at hand hit .   I actually did that a few days ago when another scooter pull out in front of me from behind a parked hand truck .

I had about a msec of time before the clangor , and I did finagle to put my feet on the ground and sort of tolerate up .

My scooter hold open on run low and the other water scooter crashed into it , but I was pretty much degage .

Here ’s a photo of my Vespa being used as a truck to carry a dismission of concrete and some building block .   I ’m quite susceptible to the attractions of automobiles , and I ’ve have a caboodle , but without a doubtfulness , the Vespa is the favorite mode of transport I ’ve ever owned .
