fold magazine craft is a originative natural action of yore . But it ’s take a retort , probably because of its cool , vintage vibration and mid - century feel that is so spicy in good order now . For me , I return angels made from foldedReader ’s Digestmagazines lining my hometown church basement windowsills in the 70s .
Like with so many hobby - knitwork , origami and most for certain gardening - the joy is as much in the act as the effect . The repetition and tactual nature of paper pen up the cartridge pages is calming , centering and surprisingly cheering . Perhaps best of all , there is no learning curve to cause a folded magazine Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree . bump a mates cartridge and get to it !

Two magazines and several newspaper clips or Tacky Glue . The slenderly dense pages ofNorthern Gardener ® work well for this project and , as observe earlier , two magazines make a nice full tree . A bone leaflet used to sharpen the crimp when composition fold is helpful , but I use a closed in Sharpie marking to flatten the crimp .
There are three folds to make :
Fold # 1

Take the top right corner of the correct - hand pageboy and fold up it down so that the top runs along the remaining side or the stick to side of the page .
Fold # 2
Fold the page again so that the top side of the upper right angle again meets the left or binding side of the pageboy .

close down # 3
This is the only folding that could qualify as being slightly challenging . Turn the double - fold Sir Frederick Handley Page to the leftfield and tuck the triangular flap that extends below the bottom of the magazine up and into the interior of the folded Sir Frederick Handley Page . I have come up it helps to fold it up and make a crease , then head it up and into the pocket that has been created with the first two faithful .
As you make your flock , flatten out the crease with a os folder or , as I note , I use a Sharpie . When you have the folds discharge in your two magazines , localise them on their bottom edges , accordion them open and either paper clip them together where their outer side meet or hunt down a line of Tacky Glue along the edge to assure them together . I care to paperclip my trees together and then undo and flatten out them for gentle storage .

When you are all done with the fold operation , you’re able to have merriment dramatize your tree as you wish with spray paint , glitter , small decoration and even vintage jewellery . I choose to leave behind mine unadorned but the aureole of craft is you get to make it your own . The base fold Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree can be your blank canvas or your finished piece . Happy holidays and felicitous crafting .
