SixOnSaturday

Well it has been raining here , and there is more to come over the next workweek or so .   It does cramp my flair reasonably , restricted as I am to weekend horticulture , but I am proud of to see it . The garden will get a better soaking than I can give it and the whole thing will get a overnice hike .   I ’ll just have to watch out for our slimy friends , they will be having a field day .   Time for Six on Saturday . Six things , in the garden , on a Saturday . Could be anything – flowers , foliation , pests , disease , a winner , a failure , anything at all . Easy peasy , link up in !

Here are my Six for this workweek .

1 – Persicaria ‘ Purple Fantasy’ . I bought it cheap last twelvemonth as it was looking a little dilapidated but hadgood root . It is fast becoming a real flora . I bought it for the foliage , the flowers are pretty anon. , very small and bland .   Naturally , I have occupy cuttings , a couple of which establish their way into grannysgarden ’s boot last time they were here . Likey .

2 – genus Allium christophii .   Many of the standard purple I are done already , but these are still on their way in .   They are a little lower growing than the vulgar ones , with a bad , lighter bleached heyday head . I like the way the dome form is just propose by the alignment of the petals . I shall be getting some more ( along with more genus Allium in ecumenical ) in the autumn .

3 – Lupin , rain drops . I foretell a few photos of these today , it has been rain down a lot recently and it does take care so cool on the lupine leave .   It reminds me of the liquid quicksilver we were give to play with in scientific discipline deterrent example . What were they thinking !

4 – Rose ‘ The Pilgrim ’ . One of a few I buy last year to go in containers in the side transit . It has grown on vigorously , I should be able to civilise into a adept climb shape in the dormant season .   I think it was yellower than it is , it ’s quite pale . I do n’t mind that really .   I am finding the tightly furled petal gripping . It has a fairly strong fragrance too .

5 – Pyrocantha flowers . This firethorn was a turn sickly in the first place in the year but even watering has take care it recover nicely .   Last year it was still a small plant and had just a few flowers low-toned down . This year it is about 4′ grandiloquent , school against the wall , and has flowers top to bottom . This will translate into Charles Edward Berry subsequently in the class , so it should be quite a good video display .

6 – Aquilegia , self sown .   Or at least , I think it is ego sown . I have grown quite a few from source , but do n’t bother labelling them too cautiously . Who knows …
