travel forward , most of the plant that died were container plants , and as it usually go , it ’s the rarest , or most expensive , or the most difficult to supersede . What we gardeners value is different than what regular hoi polloi note value , so a dead kitty of Osmanthus or Westringia may only illicit a “ oh , poor dry up shrubby thingy , time to thresh and get a novel one ” , but to us , it may mean,”Poor dried up Topiaried myrtle that I trained for 5 years , and bought a squeamish Guy Wolf pot for ” , or “ Farewell little Westringia rosmarifolia that I bribe at the National NARGS Winter Study Weekend in Portland , OR , then sneak back in my traveling bag wrapped in a blanket ” . Still , this does intend one thing , not unlike a wintertime freeze in the nursery , this does open up some elbow room for Modern plants . I do n’t cognise about you , but a large empty container rarely remains empty this fourth dimension of year . All I can say is “ Thank God for Succulents ” . I mean , even a gravid Agapanthus is dry out up , how can that happen ?
This variegated Osmanthus bush , has many dead spots on it , but I am bright that it might retrieve .
A dead Myrtus communus , topiary . This , will never get along back , but the pile has a future tense with something cherubic . So the leaning is far too longsighted for what I have lost , but on the list are all of the Pelargoniums I listed in an early post , some potted tomato , all seedling in the glasshouse , some Japanese Azaleas in batch , a couple of Bonsai , and one-half of the novel Bonsai Grove our friend Glen planted for us ( he promises that he can determine it in the spring ) . Other than that , many plant that expect dead , came back after tearing . The lemon all lost their leaves , but the young sprouts recover , and anything that was succulent or cacti touch , survived the disaster which get the idea that growing cacti and succulent might be a secure choice for us if we plan to travel more .
Now , the container garden has been readjust , with plants from other places around the yard , and most citizenry will never notice the miss plants . And over prison term , we too will bury .
